Exposure to the water really brought her down. Seems like she caught a bit of a cold after Sarah brought her back home.
But Sarah being the goodhearted girl she is decides to take it upon herself to help Mai recover.
Well recover in two ways. One to help poor Mai get over her cold. The other; to help her recover from that utter humiliation. No doubt while Mai recovers; that indignity she suffered is heavy on her mind.
So it looks like Sarah is also taken her mind off of things but helping Mai relax more. If you recall; Mai lost one of her shoes as well as had to feel that serpent's mouth clamp onto her toes. So it looks like Sarah is performing one of her specialties; massages.
In this case giving Mai a really good foot rub. And judging by Mai's reaction. Sarah truly does have the magic fingers.
Truly a nice moment between these two. Mai can be kind of mean to Sarah; and call her names. Sarah of course doesn't like it when Mai does this; but she's tolerated a lot of crap through her career and actually seems to care enough about Mai to not only rescue her; but comfort her.
Mai looks really relaxed. The foot rub sure; along with the blanket, pillow, bag of ice on her head and letting her feet soak in warm water. Sarah really does know how to take care of her teammates.
So I know some of you might be asking; is Mai just a show off who talks big but when confronted by something like Zhao the serpent she'll become helpless?
Well really; no. Mai wouldn't allow that to happen. That was just a bit of out-of-character fun for me. XD Mai is such a versatile character to use I like to experiment with her in different situations.
Although; I do feel just a bit bad for putting her through that Hell. Oh well Mai; Sarah there's to help you forget all this. ;)

I know.XD One thing is for sure; if there is one thing I got out of all this is that I think one slight on Mai's character is she is susceptible to catching colds. And while in the canon (from my perspective) it's nowhere near as humiliating as what she went through; it does happen to some comedic effect. XD
Sarah and Mai's "friendship" is one of twists and turns. When they initially start out working side-by-side; Mai's surly attitude got on Sarah's nerves while Sarah's apparent "incompetence" got on Mai's. But as you have witnessed and as I have said; Sarah isn't one to hold grudges. Over time these two bond (slowly but surely) to form a mutual trust as they continue to work alongside Carmelita.
Sarah may appear goofy or incompetent at times; but she has a big heart. And she is a definite team player. She's definitely one to try and make things go well; even if she messes up sometimes.
Thank you. ^^ yes; seeing Mai relaxed like this did bring me some joy too. She totally looks chill. I kind of envy her in a way; since the set up here shows she is receiving almost a spa treatment rather than recuperating.
And you're right; if Sarah was in trouble Mai would save her too. (Maybe not early on in their partnership; but definitely later as they bond.) Through thick and thin these two got each other's backs. ;) Friendship amongst two lovely ladies is a beautiful thing. ;D
