Poor Jesse. When he agreed to the naga's suggestions of, as Sammy called it 'alleviating his stress' (stress which was generally caused BY said naga,) he sort of assumed he'd be just fine since he wouldn't be FACING the snake-man.

He couldn't have been more wrong, but he's a little too far gone to worry about that now. Not when he's so damn comfortable. And sleepy.

Samal never told Jesse the longer he knew him the less it would take for him to fall under his spell, but in Sam's defense it's not like the boy ever asked.
