To anyone who hasn't seen the geeknews, Reboot is being reborn!
So, watching the old show again some, I got to wondering what I'd look like as a Reboot character, as well as what my programming might be.
Widget's the product. An applet, he and his kind are designed to be an evolutionary step in the stewardship and duties for a system's caretakers. Whereas Guardians have their Keytool, the Applets would be most often given to the System Administrator (i.e., Phong) due to their abilities.
They can make function calls to the system's core, executing code from the Archives remotely, allowing them to call up abilities for the SysAdmins and their friends within a "sandbox" - the code cannot be copied, and a limited subset can be carried by the Applet into the games. The evolutionary part is that unlike Keytools, they are far more autonomous and can act independently, making their own decisions.

Lots and lots of watching as an adult has really opened up how great a series it was. Some of the characters are really quite robust and dynamic (Hexadecimal comes to mind), and I very much cherish the show. =D
Reboot and Robotech were the shows I latched onto as a kid, they were so story-driven; if you watch either of those shows now as an adult, the story arcs they comprise are actually pretty in-depth. Way more fascinating than the more slapstick cartoons.
