Archmage Grey stood rooted to the spot, the mindweft connecting him to the rest of the University coursing through his brain. Soon, he would become the focal point in defense of his home, incalculably vast power at his fingertips.
Power that, at best, would only slow down the colossal might of a dragon-god.

Dal-Mog rampaged through the ruins of Xancheta, almost idly toppling buildings and forever stilling the lives of hundreds of thousands. Were it not the plaintive look of disgust and rage on the dragon-god's face, Dal-Mog would almost seem bored.
Archmage Grey felt the mindweft shift from drawing power from him, suddenly feeding a surge of mana and knowledge into his brain. He pulled that knowledge to him, his decisions and acts backed by thousands of other archmages, and he felt his body teleport. Dal-Mog loomed over him, impossibly large. The screams and roars filled his ears as the scent of death and fire filled his nose.

The dragon-god peered down at the latest foe to appear. A building crashed to the ground as Dal-Mog's tail lashed with unconcealed wrath, cracking through the air like a whip.
Archmage Grey focused, stilled his trembling frame, and practically thrummed with power.

I've mentioned it a few times, but my character Lord Grey II comes from a setting developed for a book I've been writing. In my world, to be promoted from archmage to Lord-Protector, an archmage must successfully help defend their city from a dragon attack... and live through the experience. I'm hoping to have Xancheta, the capital city of the world of Mundi, illustrated by an artist, especially a scene involving an attack from the dragon-god Dal-Mog. Ideally, I thought, it'd be drawn by Alector Fencer because she's done amazing art for me in the past and she does absolutely beautiful art (and dragons ye gods) in general anyway. But! She's busy with her graphic novel Myre, which I hope you'll check out and support!
Of course, I couldn't find an artist to illustrate it at Anthrocon this year (everyone I liked was already full for commissions), but Impy gave it a shot for me~ <3
