Overview: A Tamed Pet Armadillo from Houston, Lucy was a researchers pet that grew to monstrous size, becoming heralded as a hero after bravely defending her owners and city from a invading Kaiju while suffering mortal injuries that would lead to a massive effort by the grateful humans to save her life. Now part of a Anti-Kaiju Deterrent Force, she is cyberneticly enhanced for combat. She functions as a living weapons platform with on-board crew, but is still very possessing of her own personality, a intelligent and brave defender of humanity that should not be underestimated by larger, more threatening kaiju.
Origin:
Lucy the armadillo was Professor Jillian Beauguard's prized pet. Discovered next next to an ill-fated mother armadillo that had become victim to a passing vehicle, the young scientist picked up the orphaned creature in hopes of finding help at a rescue center.
Lucy, however, seemed to take a liking to her new "Mother" and quickly squeaked and wriggled her way into the reluctant Professor's life, much to the amusement of Her friends and fellow colleagues, who found the sight of the woman and her little armored "shadow" loyally crawling behind her warranted giving Jillian the nickname "Doctor Dillo". Lucy was normally kept at home, but Jillian was given permission to bring the animal to the lab on the condition that she remain in a cage.
Employed under a team of privately funded researchers at ChemStar's Houston based research facility, the Young scientist found herself romantically involved with a fellow Scientist named Trevor Swanson, who was there working on a separate project.
Swanson's team had been developing "M2-Chem5" ,a chemical injected substance that induced exponential increases in growth and size in unpicked fruit and vegetables. Convinced that their new creation was the answer to helping prevent future shortages of food for mankind, Trevor excitedly secretly shared his work with Jillian. Jillian was shocked when her boyfriend removed a beach ball sized Grape from a duffle bag. Worried that the chemicals that produced the freakishly gigantic vegetable might also work on animal life, she urged Trevor to be careful with his potentially dangerous substance. However he explained that the rats they had just given samples of the overgrown produce had shown no ill-effects, and he believed that it was even safe enough to offer a piece to Lucy. Lucy eagerly accepted the treat.
Jillian soon found out her fears were well-founded, as the rats did indeed began to grow in size at a extremely alarming rate, turning on each other in cannibalistic fashion until only one large, vicious mutant remained. It escaped the lab and fled out into the city, where it began to prey on the homeless to feed its growing body. The morning after, Lucy had vanished... but something very large had seemingly dug its way either in or out of her fenced in yard.
Soon the news reported a strange story about a massive armadillo destroying a baseball playing field. The creature on the screen was unmistakable. Lucy was looking for food in the middle of Minute Maid Park. The kaiju showed little interest in the armed national guardsmen as they carefully surrounded the stadium, in fact, the giant armadillo was surprisingly docile even as the military sealed the domed roof of the stadium, trapping the foraging omnivore inside.
The authorities soon learned that their kaiju problems were far from over. A monstrous rat erupted from under a busy street and began rampaging through downtown Houston. Desperate for food to fuel its ever growing form, it smelled the large armadillo and attempted to break into the stadium.
The two giants battled for several hours until the badly savaged armadillo crushed the rat kaiju to death with a surprising jump high into the air, curling into a ball as she came crashing down on her enemy. The rat had chewed massive holes into her armor, and the armadillo soon collapsed, unable to get up as her wounds took their toll. She was assumed to have died.
Meanwhile, word of the armadillo that saved Houston spread to the United States Anti-kaiju initiative, who launched an attempt to acquire the creatures remains. Finding the creature in a coma-like state, the scientists worked to keep the creature alive during transport to a undisclosed facility.
Jillian watched helplessly as Lucy's limp body was airlifted away to parts unknown.
In a massive underground hanger in New Mexico, a new anti-kaiju weapon was being developed. A mind controlling device that could be attached to monsters. They had only one problem. No monster. That changed with Lucy.
They would make her their own monster, a mobile battleship, submarine, and tank, rolled into one living, breathing Kaiju. Or that was the plan at least. But Lucy had plans of her own. Her size was not the only thing that had increased, she had become much more intelligent than the average armadillo. She escaped the facility and headed straight for her shocked "mother."
Eventually, Jillian would Join the Anti-Kaiju Initiative as her pet would be needed to help drive back the increasing threat of hostile monsters. Lucy would cooperate as long as her owner was near, and Jillian became an essential part of the Warmadillo's On-Board Crew.
Energy: Lucy might be a walking battle-fortress, but she still (mostly) an animal. Luckily the armadillo's enhanced heart and lungs combined with a sophisticated stimulant dispensing system ensure the Warmadillo will quickly regain the stamina to keep fighting. In theory, at least.
Ranged Weaponry: Warmadillo has been outfitted with a array of experimental weapons: Repeating Plasma Turrets, Massive "K-Killer" Homing Missiles, and Her twin "Thunderbolt" Heavy Laser System, Used in "Rolling Thunder", an elaborate special attack that transforms Lucy into a Flying Pinwheel Of Destruction.
Grappling: Warmadillo's forelimbs are ill-suited for lifting opponents, however she can use her T.U.S.K. system to vault her opponents over her backside, or alternatively, she may hook her tail weapon into a opponent, then swing her entire body to fling them around the battlefield.
Melee: Warmadillo's naturally powerful claws, originally designed for digging, have been augmented with sharpened metal gauntlet-like coverings to increase offensive power as well as protection from potential wounds that might hinder the quadruped's locomotion. Her main offensive melee weapon is the Twin Ultraanium Shock Katanas (T.U.S.K.) fitted to her skull for slash/goring attacks.
Movement: The Warmadillo has a booster for quickly ramming into opponents, often enemies who try to keep their distance find themselves on the business end of the giant armadillos T.U.S.K.s , receiving several million volts as Warmadillo attempts to skewer them.
Defenses: Warmadillo's shell is made of the strongest combination of durable metals the Anti-Kaiju Initiative could develop, dubbed "Ultraanium" , designed to withstand most physical and energy based attacks TO A DEGREE.
Weaknesses: All armadillos have a natural weakness to cold. Despite attempts to keep the massive creature insulated, any kaiju possessing ice abilities would be able to inflict severe amounts of damage.
