This is the second in a series of collaborations with
baroncoon to produce artwork for the CD faces, insert cards, and tray cards for the music CDs by his fictitious all-mouse girl band called Move to the Music. Wild Things followed in the wake of their initial success, so Thames Records was more willing to spend a little time and money on the graphic design—including designing a unique logo for the band: the doubled-up music notes forming a pair of superimposed Ms. (I was very proud of that.) It’s still simple and somewhat austere, since the label couldn’t be sure whether the first CD’s popularity was a fluke, but at least they moved away from the prefabricated templates that gave the first CD a somewhat cookie-cutter look. The zebra stripes were scanned from a square of novelty adhesive-backed felt, then manipulated in Photoshop to create a screen-tone black-and-white image. The face art will be printed on a white label and affixed to a CD, and the cards will be printed on gloss paper. They and the original cover art will be matted and framed together as a “presentation piece”. It and prints of the front cover art will be available for sale from Backbreaker Studios.
