Actually, I tend to agree with Loupy. During the glass-making process, as the sand is melted, the impurities either burn off or drain to the bottom of the kiln that heats the sand into molten glass. Before sand could be melted, however, the sand needs to be mixed with a certain quantity of lime (as in limestone) and ash. It is this mixture that makes glass. Besides, I had tried out the process of forming a beautiful glass bowl from molten glass one day, and it turned out perfect. I am very proud of the work I did on that bowl. This is part of why I know so much about how glass is made.
