I make lots of things. As yet though I haven't had a chance to do much with the workbench...it's been very rainy and the shop leaks like a sieve....>.>
However, I sew, sculpt, am adept at carpentry, mechanical design (though not manufacture, yet), simple repair and aftermarket modification.customization of almost anything....I'm a novice metalworker....jack of all trades, master of none.
Also, I draw and paint. I used to write, but....no motivation anymore u.u

a man after my own talents.
jack pf all trades, general specialist.
to quote Heinlein "A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

Amen. In my case though though....I can clean up after a natural disaster, plan for an invasion, catch, clean, and cook fish, tend a garden, design and build a building, write lyric or prose, balance and settle accounts, build a wall, perform first aid up to and including basic resuscitation and sutures, comfort the dying and more importantly the living, follow orders and give only orders I myself would follow, cooperate or act alone, solve equations, analyze and solve a new problem, work around my own deficiencies (on the fly if necessary), cook a tasty meal, fight effectively and because of this I will die either before I know what hit me or never at all XD
*smiles* I had a good teacher...used to go on multi-week camping road trips. I've probably seen almost as many of the states as you have....and caught a lot of my meals on a fishing line along the way thanks to my granddad. That workbench wouldn't have been possible without his tutelage either....he and I built most of the house I'm sitting here typing this in when I was a teenager.
A lot of the other stuff I learned on my own....but yes. Heinlein is epic win and I agree completely. Musashi's more been my role model though as he said it more simply:
Do not think dishonestly.
The Way is in the training.
Become acquainted with every art.
Know the ways of all professions.
Distinguish between gain and loss in worldly matters.
Develop intuitive judgement and understanding for everything.
Perceive those things which cannot be seen.
Pay attention even to trifles.
Do nothing which is of no use.
-Miyamoto Musashi

I wish I'd had a teacher.
I did not have a childhood, I had an apprenticeship with as bastard that could never acknowledge that I EVER did anything right.
so I'm almost a professional mechanic,
rewired the house 110 and 220 while it was still LIVE
rebuilt the rear porch 3 times "Because it's not GOOD enough!"
professional computer consultant
full time cook and maide service
not to mention torture subject and mental patient
oh, this was all when I was 12ish
it got worse from there
I fancy myself a writer because I lack talent to play instrument or paint/draw, or be creative in any other fashion
that and being a writer I can claim "Writers Block" and nobody give it a second thought when I HARDLY ever have the muse to WRITE anything bot Blog posts or political CRAP

Oh, my work was good enough....I'm a freaking machine when it's time for business.
Not to compete or anything, I'm not trying to....but a student could write his dissertation on my first five years of medical history alone. I've survived a lot....and my many brushes with what most would call inconceivable misfortune and even death more times than I care to recall have taught me more than Granddad ever did. He tempered a few things to be sure....taught me a few tricks I wouldn't have thought of...
I have lost everything a man can lose and remain (mostly) biologically intact with the exception of my own mother and sister over the course of my life.
I do not lie, nor do I exaggerate.
Everything.
It's been a downhill ride since they revived me at birth.
But I've still managed to have a lot of fun....and I regret nothing.
