Because they tend to collide with buildings and any other object no matter how hard you try to avoid them.

I can assure you, it's hard. Noticed while trying to hunt down enemies or to avoid
enemy fire in Mechwarrior 4 on a city map. GAWD THATS BEST GAME!

As much of a lighter pilot I am, in city maps I have to bring in something larger. With no speed bringing a medium or light is almost pointless. Unless said Light is an UrbanMech, then that logic flies completely out the airlock.

Well yeah, if you have light mech in a city, its manoeuvrability will become your advantage but there are some minus sides. With larger mechs you can just slowly navigate through streets and alleys without any problems.

It's the only (major) reason I'd go in a heavy. Even then, my heavy 'Mechs have to have some speed. (I've gotten a well-armed Catapult sans Jump jets to go over 100kph before!)

Saddly it's rare. If I had the right software, I know I would be doing some 3d art of it, right now all I can do is convert some mechs I have over to it by changing there textures slightly to match.
