I got off lighter than some with just four weeks in a fibreglass cast and I'm now learning quite quickly to walk again.
Oh and it happened because my motorbike slid out from under me around a wide corner. I always wear good riding gear though so I suffered very little besides the over-stressed ankle. The bike is fine.
