As promised - following the posting of my Absolut ad take-off (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1398139/) - here is a send-up of the Zima ad campaign from the early 1990s. Once again, I have a mephit as its spokesmorph...
The original premise of this gag was to make fun of the substitution of the letter 'S' with the letter 'Z'. But nowadays, with products like Nintendo's "Dogz" and "Catz", you don't have to sell alcohol to drive that point across. (As if dropping the 'E' at the end of that brand of vodka wasn't bad enough.)
Illiteracy in advertising is nothing new, anyway. In the immortal words of political satirist Mark Russell, "Thanks to the folks on Madison Avenue, today's youth spells cheese K-R-A-F-T and relief R-O-L-A-I-D-S!" Think about that... the next time you eat some chocolate My-T-Fine pudding, topped with Reddi-Wip... :-P

Don't think that I haven't gone in THAT direction either, mole! Living in south Florida, it's hard enough to give an order at a Burger King in straight English, when most of the employees they'd hired mostly speak Spanish!
I'm also reminded of Andy Rooney's classic essay (on "60 Minutes") about other brand name products that promote illiteracy, such as Fantastik (with a 'K'), etc.

I always wondered about that "drunk as a skunk" saying its maybe only the rhyme that made that phrase.
And the hole thing about brands promoting illiteracy is I think an exaggeration, i does promote confusion i admit, but illiteracy is the product of laziness or poor access to education and learning tools.
Ads can also confuse people about historical stuff, example in 5th grade i asked my teacher " If the Greeks destroyed troy than why are they producing condoms?"
