Actually it's due to radiation of some rocks. But I bet they are just pretending to be blind, so they can watch the sexy guards when they are bathing naked in the ponds...

I got the DVDs recently too, finally I have some better quality screencaps to work with. I also watched the movie- which is oddly, not just the first few parts of the cartoon but a separate story (although it re-uses a lot of scenes). It is also a bit more adult natured then the series.

I'm glad you like my drawings - there is very little art of the Lizard Women out there, although they are perhaps the oldest such obviously "drawn-to-be-sexy" anthro creatures, seeing as the show is even a year older then I am.

I have been looking for the movie, where did you find it?

When I first saw the lizard women appear back in the day, I was surprised that their costumes were so sexy. I bet that if they had been human women, the censors would not have allowed such sexiness. Also, I thought the scene where the slaves rose up against the lizard women was a bit disappointing. They just ran away without putting up a fight. I would have loved seeing a few of them get overpowered and throttled by the slaves!

Well, they really went a bit overboard with how much cleavage they can show... But nope, actually the human or humanoid/alien women on the show (like Princess Aura, or the various Queens) got really skimpy outfits as well. This was 1978 - censors were different back then.

And as for the no fighting - you should watch the original cinematic version. 'Yknow, the one where Ming actually teams up with Hitler! It was released in 1980, I think, and is basically the first 5 parts of the animated series edited together with lots of extra footage. Also, it is much more adult-oriented... as in, people actually die in that version. Although only shown via shadows, it is heavily implied some poor lizard women got bashed by rocks or speared, and one actually gets disintegrated by a laser blast in the palace battle. Oh, and when they capture Flash, they almost drown him underwater - and later Thun implies when a lizard girl seems interested in Flash (yes, in "that" way...) that they eat the prisoners who cannot work anymore.

Btw, check out my gallery, I have drawn these two girls a few more times, naked as well. I wouldn't mind if someone else drew them too - although I am not into the whole strangulation fetish you like, I do like your artwork.
