The Order of the Good Death
An all-out portrait of Caitlin Doughty, founder of the Order of the Good Death ( http://www.orderofthegooddeath.com ), and the mortician behind Ask a Mortician ( http://www.youtube.com/user/OrderoftheGoodDeath ).
This was one of my more ambitious projects. I estimate there's 30-40 hours in this piece, spread out over the course of a month. The statues are referenced from one of Caitlin's photos from Kerepesi Cemetery in Budapest ( http://www.orderofthegooddeath.com/deathstination-kerepesi-cemetery-budapest ). The skulls were referenced from stock by deviantART user clz ( http://fav.me/d64u8qh ). All of the flowers and the trees were assembled from myriad stock sources (including my landlord's back yard).
Yes, I was pretty much channeling Mucha and DG Rossetti while working on this. If ever there was a lovechild of the PRB and Art Nouveau, it's probably me.
