"After months of patient pursuit and cunning trickery, the wolf finally succeeded in capturing his prey during Anthrocon 2014. Our dinner was quite surprised when the end suddenly came upon him, and the pack ate very well that evening!" hehehe...

EXCERPT OF A POSTCARD FROM THE BAHAMAS : "Hey Transyr, thanks for that subterfuge! Now all the wolves think you've got me and they stopped chasing me and it allowed me to sneakily evade for those nice vacations. Also, they've reassured that you eat meat as they must have been wondering if you became a vegetarian not able to catch this elusive caribou... I'll make sure to bring you a souvenir and some recipes for your '"special" healthy diet, that will remain our secret! Anyway, I hope you can enjoy so nice weather, the weather here is fantastic and the ladies too! Too bad you must be missing all this to keep up with the subterfuge."
...Transyr puts down the half-gnawed bone he had been chewing on while carefully writing that note in the handwriting style of his downed prey. After taking a minute to admire his latest ingenious ruse, he adds the last "finishing touch" to the letter: a dew-claw print from his dinner's leftover forelimb.
"Ahh yes, that will ensure that the rest of the herd believes Comet found a safe new home... Caribou always foolishly move as a group, and if they think their comrade is safe they will make the journey to our next vacation destination as well!"
After sending off the cleverly- written deception to the North Pole Caribou herd, Transyr and the rest of the pack enjoy the leftovers from their earlier feast before embarking on their celebratory trip to the Bahamas. They rested comfortably during the journey, safe in the knowledge that their favorite prey-stock would be there when they arrived. The hunt would continue... this time in a tropical paradise.

Up at the North Pole, the rest of the flying team receive the deceptive letter which awfully smells the wolf... They all know it's that time of the year the Triangle does it job the best. It took one reindeer to sacrifice himself to save the whole herd and get rid of a whole wolf pack, now lost in the Bermuda Triangle! The rest of the wolves will be taken care of by all those ladies who were Comet's fans... No one would like to be in their hides at that moment!
(A voice slowly creeps in from the depths of your mind...)
Well, touche and great going Comet... now my former wolf pack does not wish to return from their mysterious new home! But, things did not turn out like you might have expected!
Between the delicious feast they had from the sacrificed, fallen caribou, and the fact that they are now being taken care of by their victim's lady-fans, I'd have to say that the wolf pack was still victorious... Christmas came early for the wolves and they are now quite happy with their new home and caretakers. They are very grateful for the life of tropical luxury they have received from the caribou herd... because we all know Santa's Reindeer would never turn evil by intentionally sending other creatures into harm's way!
As for myself, I told you before I am an ethereal creature... finding my way through the planes of the netherworld is my specialty. I'll return from the Bermuda triangle soon, and the hunt will begin anew! Mwahahahahaha!

("Hehehe alright, I'll spare the caribou this time. After all I am only the spirit of the hunt... the chase is eternal!")

...A loud sound breaks the previously calm and moonless night. Comet jumps to his feet, his eyes still blurry from a restless slumber. His body shook in fear as a cold sweat took hold over his entire body. Startled by his sudden movements, the other resting caribou frantically looked around for the source of the commotion. After quickly scouting the area for danger, they return to console their trembling comrade. Comet took a moment to collect his thoughts, as events all seemed to blend together in his mind. Was his untimely demise real, or was it simply a creation of his own mind? He could not tell...
Warmth slowly returned to his body as his vision cleared. He began to explain to his friends what he could remember of his experience. It was a terrifying ordeal; the piercing white eyes, the sharp claws slicing through the crisp still air on their way to their gruesome final destination, the shrill cries of satisfaction approaching from all around as his awareness slowly faded from existence. The other caribou took a step back from their friend as he told his story, mostly out of a subconscious, instinctual reaction to run from the events they were being told.
"Comet, it was simply a bad dream." They explained after a moment's pause. "You have been here with us all along. If a wolf had entered our sleeping grounds, we surely would have noticed his presence. Our senses are strong... those silly wolves could not have even approached us, let alone made you their dinner at some far away event! You're safe... so go back to sleep and get some rest."
"Well...alright." Comet said with some reservation. As the others began to walk away, Comet turned around to find a new place to lay down and rest for the remaining hours of the night. Suddenly, several terrified gasps came from behind him.
"Comet... what happened to your back!"
Comet strained to look over his shoulder, pulling at his side with his arm as he did so. A sharp pain instantly grabbed him, bringing a cold sense of reality to something that should only have existed in his mind.
Four thin red scrape marks mysteriously ran from his shoulder to the middle of his back.
Sleep eluded the startled Caribou for the rest of the night, as Comet's nightmare suddenly became terrifyingly real to the rest of the herd.
