Character design is based on the cubi of DMFA by missmab, who are characterized not by their wings but by having a second set of wings on their head. A third set of wings at the hips means that this particular cubi is a Clan Leader!
Ambrose's emotional affinity is curiosity. That's right. He's a curious monkey. Thus making it obvious that sometimes I am just incapable of thinking things through.
Three hundred years after Daniel Ti'Fiona enrolled in SAIA, Ambrose returned to the academy with eleven clan members previously unknown or assumed dead, bringing his total clan strength to thirty-seven. He is rumoured to have ascended during the Dragon-Cubi war, possibly even before the death of his previous clan leader, but the only information he has ever openly given is that he ascended "because of" the war, implying that he may not have actually wanted to ascend. Prior to the war he had been involved romantically off and on with several cubi from clans on the more "positive" end of the emotional spectrum, but it is at this point unknown if he ever had children. It is one of few topics that can break through his generally easy-going demeanor.
Ambrose is said to be able to identify Dimanika without needing any clues, leading to sly jokes that he is always thinking of her. Clan members are often scholars, explorers, scientists, or detectives, and Ambrose himself is known to take an active role in assisting SAIA students with (non-violent) classwork and assignments.
While cubi are natural shapeshifters, Ambrose chooses to manually shave his hair rather than shapeshift it away. Ambrose's natural colors are browns and oranges. He likes to go monochrome because it amuses him.
Clan quirk: cubi born into Ambrose's clan are born fully white except for their eyes. Their colors "fill in" by the age of three months. On the rare occasion that one of them is born with duality wings, the bat part is a light gray, and will also "fill in" the same way. There is some argument about how often white is the natural color versus the color simply not filling in.

Two of my main characters were created after I participated in a ten-question meme last year. After realising that both species suggested for me (rat and cock) were in the Chinese zodiac, I took that pattern and ran with it. I now have eight characters (only seven of which actually have art done of them) that have their species represented in the zodiac, three of which are DMFA fan characters.
Nice, but the reason I brought up the monkey thing in the first place is that when I created the background on my latest character (an Angel), I consciously left a potential opening for me to round out the zodiac. Four species, four codenames (I hinted at him having been a spy, you see).
It's all right, I didn't really expect you to glean my intentions from a comment about the shortage of monkeys in Furrae. To be honest, I only brought up the matter of the meme, and the dramatis personae that sprang up as a result, as a means of segueing into my present issue.
Here's the Angel, by the way: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/21213693/

Thanks. I toyed with the idea of making him a bulldog, but
Tapewolf pointed out that the breed suffers from breathing problems. I always intended him to be a history teacher; the spy thing came about with the change in breed. I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't influenced by Sean Connery in that regard. It's actually sort of a theme with my fan characters; My Demon took cues from Idris Elba, and my Dragon owes a goodly debt to Benedict Cumberbatch.
