The tour for your last album sold out every venue, your songs are playing on every radio, and here you are, sitting in your basement at 3am wondering what the hell you're doing with your life.
You thought you finally had it made; now that you hit the big times it would just be a matter of keeping the momentum going and everything would work out great, but that momentum just seems to have evaporated in an instant, and now every bar of music and every line of lyrics you write down just comes out sounding like garbage.
Life used to be simple before you got it in your head that you wanted to be a rock star. You'd just follow the same path that everyone else before you did, and everyone else after you would. You'd finish school, maybe get a degree, then you'd find a job at some nice safe company and disappear into the woodwork for the next 40 years, saving up that nest egg so that one day you could retire and maybe have enough to go visit a caribbean island once or twice before you get too old.
But that wasn't what happened. You got stars in your eyes, and convinced yourself that nobody could hold you back from following your true passion to become a superstar. You never would have thought that the one thing that would hold you back would be you.
You've been here before, though. A quick late night jog will work the angry out of your blood, and a steaming mug of warm milk will get a good night's rest in you, and then tomorrow will be a new day.
