Nope - they're a species of Ntodid, a class of intelligent animals whose classifying features are plates of protective dermal bone and more than two pairs of limbs. :O Skyvers are the most ancient of the ntodid species, and the ancestor of them all... the more modern the species, the more 'watered down' they appear, the most so being the mapura, a fuzzy hybrid with a gentle, almost humanlike appearance.

Are there still 'Pure' Skyvers?
Maybe I misunderstood your meaning with the above sentence... Are you saying more modern as in the more recently 'evolved' into a new species away from Skyvers?

There are still "pure" skyvers, but there are other species of ntodid evolved from them, as well, to adapt to different environments - primarily due to thousands of years of being kept and bred as slaves. :\

Ah. That can lead to selective breeding among the slaves by the masters.

Primarily, the sutux, a race of rabbitlike people created by my friend Vux. They originally overpowered them by numbers alone (they breed like... well, like rabbits,) and over the generations efforts have been made to weaken the workers' natural weapons (venom, spines, etc - depending on the species) so that they retain only the strength and dexterity needed to perform the deeds they're assigned.
