I suspect they couldn't. :) It's the same reason that they jumped almost immediately into 'Hakuna Matata' - it's a kid's movie, they need to keep it pretty light and happy. Same thing happens after Bambi's mother's death, too, when the winter suddenly switches to spring and a very uplifting song.
