First of all... I know the head is huge, it was a miscalculation on my part as the first head frame looked so small and I overcompensated on upsizing it. My instincts sadly were off this time as I kept second guessing and guessed wrong.
There were hopes that even if it were disproportionally large that it would look so in an impressive way and not an awkward way... and we are on the fence about how it looks.
The customer and I are highly debating on if this head size is acceptable... and we are highly debating on what to do if we decide it is too big, on if it can be altered to look smaller without compromising it, or even redoing it altogether (in which case they would buy this one as artwork)
What do you guys think? Is the head big in an impressive way? Or an awkward way?
Keep this head? Or seriously consider trying to alter or even remake it?
...This suit came out so epic man except for the gotdang questionable head size (*cries in a corner)
PS the shoulder fluff is just pinned on, added last minute for the sake of trying to make that big head look better....
PSS we need a new camera, this one has been having major issues with clarity

I honestly think it looks impressive, like she could eat someone in one bite haha I love it, it would be cool to see a video of her in action too! It might help determine if the head is too big or not, but I understand the complications of her being too big for your models.
DAM THATS INCREDIBLE
JUST WOW

Frankly it looks large, but only in profile. And when I saw this, I thought it was neat and actually part of the series with the chinese dragon that you made (due to the fur)! I personally like the large head. Maybe some bulked arm padding like previously mentioned would help it.
I do not wish to be a bearer of bad news or some such so I will say that this is gorgeous! Lovely work on the fur and coloration, simply stunning. But I will say the head is too large. It reminds me alot of the chinese new-year lion dragons. The oversize head works well on those, but on this it gives it a very toon-ish look, which I dont think you were aiming for?
It might work if the hands and arms could be made bigger? but ehhh either way its alot of work. I still think it is gorgeous but from an artistic standpoint I think you may have missed what you were looking to achieve.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the above comments on it looking "off" u.u The size difference struck me immediately. I'm sure it would also make wearing it a bit awkward (harder to get a feel for where the end of the muzzle is because of the length).
This is a beautiful piece of work and I honestly can't fathom what to do with such an otherwise stunning head. Maybe turn it into a wall mount piece? If I were the customer I would probably just accept the larger head size and develop particular body movements to make the head feel impressive instead of awkward. I definitely think a video may help with this call~. Good luck!!

I think it looks amazing. While the head slightly too large I think it could be fixed with some clever illusion. To me the head is proportionate to the tail and legs but over sized for the arms and shoulders. Rather then remaking the entire head, which is again amazing, I would alter the arms and shoulders to add some beef to them like muscle padding. I think you could create the balance your looking for that way and even add to his menacing appearance.
It does look large, however as this is a completely mythical creature, whether it looks proportional will be entirely up to the imagination of the viewer. However, as this is a commission, I would think the appropriateness of the head is entirely up to the tastes of your commissioner. If you believe the head size could be a concern, you could bring it up with them and let them decide. If they are not satisfied with the head, you might still be able to sell this head as part of an artistic liberty suit/partial for somebody who likes the head size.
With that all said, every other aspect of this piece is stunningly gorgeous. Do try to take a step back and see everything you've done right and how far you've come in costuming before you beat yourself up for one (or maybe zero) salvagable error.

I don't think it looks too obviously huge at first glance but when you're staring at it for a while, yeah, the head looks a bit big. Not sports mascot big but just big enough to look off. Sorry but I wanted to give my honest opinion since you ask for it.
But amazing job on the rest of it! The scales are simply amazing, the highlights around the chest and head are beautiful and eye-catching, and the details on the face are awesome. Good luck with whatever you decide to do with the head!

Have to say yeah unfortunately my vote is for it looking quite awkward. The expression is gorgeous; love the colors! However the body is so elegant and fitted, the head just seems way too much for the shoulder and chest to support. :/
Yes you might be able to pad shoulders and body but I think that loses the elegance and dragony-sleek feel of this kirin.
That said it is a beautiful piece of art and would be a heck of a wall piece... I sure love it!

i really don't mean for this to sound insulting or anything but like... i understand the time & money spent making the head, but i personally think it wouldn't be fair for the commissioner to have to pay for your mistake D: unless they WANT to buy the head as an art piece, then it would be a different story... but bulking up the body to me just looks like too much compensation & based on the other submission where you showed what bulking up would look like, i think it just ends up looking awkward or even comical with how relatively slender the body is. i hate to say it but if this were me i would redo the head xAx;;;
They want to buy this one as a display piece if a second head happens.
I had to remake a head years ago because the first was too small, head size has not been an issue since and this is the first time one has been unintentionally so oversized.
Right now we are still a sort of "omg what do" stupor over just where to go from here...
(I wish this was like photoshop where all I have to do is use a tool to magically make the head just a tad smaller, the frame just needed to be an inch smaller all around)

ahh okay well that i would understand!
man yeah i know what you mean ;^; especially with the ridiculous amount of work that goes into your heads. i hope you guys can come to an agreement that makes everyone happy? or at least not miserable? DDD: bc it is a lovely head, but at the size it's at, i could only see it as a display piece or maybe a quadsuit head

It doesn't seem too bad to me. I do think it looks slightly...off from the front.
What if you could shorten the neck and lower the head to the body a bit? The neck seems a little long to me, like the head is too far from the body. I could be completely off, I'm no pro on this. It might also just be my person opinion and taste. But just putting a possibility out there.

In my opinion, the shoulder fluff adds a lot to the look, almost like epaulettes on a uniform. Is the head oversize? I really don't know what the correct size should be..
I remember you having concerns with Fu Manchu's head, but never a question about size.
I would say it's up to the commissioner..

I think a video of this guy would help a lot. Pictures a decieving. At fist glance I didn't think anything of the head size. I hadn't even read the title or description. Once I saw it I kind of knowticed the head size but only when I a looking for it. Over all I think it looks pretty cool. I read in another coent about hand size. I think that is your bbest option. The head looks great and I think it can be balanced out with soe arm bulk and bigger handpaws/claws
I agree with Eddiebear, a video of this would help. From what I can tell, in comparison to the feat the head is actually close to correct. It might be a little long, but then again if the creature is part dragon that may not be a bad thing. Maybe a little padding in the chest would help balance some of the weightiness out? Or a longer tail? *shrugs* I hope things work out for you.
I think it's the muzzle, personally. It's very large and has almost no curves to it, making it really boxy. The teeth are also very rectangular.
If I look at the size and placement of the eye, I almost imagine the snout ending around the end of the biggest white spot. The cheek is also quite large.
The eyes and eyebrows and the width of the head seems spot on, though!

I think the arms need to not just bee bulkier but at least an entire hand length longer. You could try making something like the arm things on this suit?

I agree that the head looks fine in comparison to the tail and legs, but it is really the arms that make it awkward.
