Brallion statue WIP - Bronze effect 2
These jaw bones were 3D printed, and then painted.
These are two effects I'm considering for my Brallion Statue: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13952792/
Please tell me which one you think looks best!
The one on the left was painted black, then a metal effect was "dry brushed" in. The one on the right was spray painted copper, then "antiquing" was painted into the cracks.
Neither of these models were sanded before they were painted. I was given the wonderful suggestion, by a couple people, of sanding the model, first. That will be my next experiment. My goal is to do away with the streaking and seams.

Thanks! Yeah, the light has a pretty warm hue, it does make it a little difficult to get the full effect. I should take another pic in more natural lighting. I do wish that the bronze (left) jaw was a little brighter, like the copper one. But in adequate light, I think it is fine. It is overall, darker. And has a more realistic feel to it, I think.
I like the darker version. To me it looks a bit more like "real" bronze figurines do. Or, you could try a mixed version - mostly dark, then the lighter tone on the area's that look like they've been handled/rubbed more often ? It'd need to be a subtle effect, but I think it would look great :)
That's a great suggestion on mixing the results. ^_^ I'll try to find some paint that I can use for the left's technique, but that will be brighter, overall. I could go a little heavier on the bronze paint, then antique it the same way I did on the right. This will give me some things to try. ^_^
Thanks for the input! Thistledown suggested the technique used on the left, but with brighter paint like used on the right. I may try something along those lines. The copper paint I have is spray paint; it'd need to be something I can brush on, but I should be able to find something like that, I think. ^_^
