It doesnt let me submit anything over 1280x1280. I get an error. So I resize things myself before posting. Unfortunately changing the submission file no longer works and FA resizes it appropriately. I did a ref for Ghost and it totally refused to let him post the full size thing. Frustrating for people posting refs. I was lucky enough to get my new one posted before the update so I dont have to use another site lol :P
Holy cow, did FA fix that recently? My alternative is the same as yours--just resize the height to 1280px, save as .png, and resubmit as that .png. If you need more than 1280x1280 for a ref, it might be time to upload it to dA, Weasyl, imgur, then link the ref url for artists to use. I don't count on FA to do anything right anymore. :\

Other than that, looks funny so far, although not as refined as your usual artwork? But I admit drawing a lot of panels is lots of work, I found that out for myself with my own project. What your panels could need would be more of a background, even if it's just a plain color. Would make the captain look less like he's commanding his ship from the void XD

Huh... thats odd. I sent my friend his ref as a PSD and a jpg. I havent tried posting any refs since then so all of my shit has been the appropriate size and I post it as a jpg. I will see whats up next time I post a large size jpg.
And it is less refined than my usual stuff. My comics always are though. I did it in a single night and didnt even plan on coloring it initially. I also didnt plan on adding the last two panels until I got to the end and thought it sucked.
My comics are really more about the expressions and humor. Or emotion in the case of darker short comics like "Kim."
But I'll admit, adding some color to the BG of the panels where Im in the lookout would make it look a lot better, especially since all the other frames have BGs. Something to keep in mind in the future.

An entire page in one night? That's respectable. I need 2-3 evenings for a page, and probably wouldn't be able to do all in one go, when it comes to concentration. And cutting corners is indeed part of the game, save for the top artists who invest like 40 hours in a single page, as I've heard.
Yeah. I generally dont worry much about how nice the comics look because I could theoretically make them really nice and tidy, but it wouldnt make it any funnier.
