Two Craters from asteroid smashes about 1 billion B.C. exist because they mangled the crust deep, forming exotic minerals and fracture patterns that never eroded away. One huge one is now occupied by a German town and a circular river follows curious erosion patterns in the mangled crushed crust.

Also super-volcanoes like tamboro in the Indonesia area (which caused an ice age !) and an early blast of Krakatoa (c.400 a.d., that split Java from Sumatra) recorded in an old chronicle.
