Decided to try a new sketching technique for getting perspective right´, when it comes to complex three-dimensional characters.
So naturally, I'd have to draw Toothless!

Just close my eyes and think of a pose, then quickly draw it with only the left eye open, seeing the image unfold while I draw it.
With only one eye on the screen, it's a lot easier to 'imagine' it's in 3D and that you're drawing what you 'see' instead of what you 'think'.
This method gives a much more intuitive control over perspective, I've found. All of those are 3-4 minute sketches.
It is also the main suggestion of two drawing courses I've seen, called "Drawing is seeing", and the simplified online version: "Draw with your fucking eyes and not your fucking brain".
Since these are focused on drawing things you can actually see, it was my idea to close one eye to bring the imagined image and the seen image closer together, by pretending the canvas *is* my inner eye.
...This technique is still a work in progress, but since you've read it, I'll gladly shoot you a gift commission where I try to use it.
