The adult cat here is Raskle, I am currently 28 years old and I have had this cat since I was 12. He is starting to show his age and I worry how many years are left for me to share with this special buddy of mine who has been with me most of my life.
The kitten is one of the stray mama cat's babies, now 2 weeks old (still un-named)
When Raskle came into my life he was 2 weeks old, an orphan found under a wood pile at my brother's construction site.
This kitten is a reflection of just how small and helpless Raskle was when I took him into my care.
He was my first rescue case, I at just 12 years old bottle raised him myself, taking him to class once a week all through the seventh grade as an ongoing show-and-tell project to study his growth. Thanks to taking him to school, and numerous car rides, and the constant human contact he had from such a young age, he grew into a very well-adjusted and easy-going cat who is not phased by much, including baby cats interrupting his nap.
Raskle is one of those special cats who is extra smart and personable, more like a little human than a cat, dare I say more like a child or a sibling to me than a pet.
I will miss him dearly when he is no longer a part of my life.
PS Raskle is a polydactyl cat, having five toes on every foot and six toes on his one front foot. (his feet are huuuge)

My cat is 16 as well and still going strong, so I think Raskle has a lot of years left :} Elderly cats seem to be powered by love - and Raskle is clearly loved XD
(for my cat, switching to a raw diet gave her tons of energy and improved her health, but it's expensive and a nightmare to prep XD )
He's a gorgeous gentleman - I have a special soft spot in my heart for tuxedos ;_;

He's only 16, he could have four or more years left in him, depending on his health! My ex's cat wasn't a particularly healthy one, even was an indoor/outdoor cat, and she lived to be 24 years old. 24! And it's not unheard of for cats to get older than that, too. The oldest cat on record lived to be 38 years old.
Don't give up on him just because he's getting slower - older kitties can surprise you with their will to hang in there!

Awe, cow kitties for the win. I've got a cat who looks similar to those guys except his spots are splotched out more like a calico than stuck together like that. As far as Rascal goes, he'll probably have anywhere between four-six more years depending on his over all health and so forth. Both are adorable, and I'm glad you've had him for as long as you have, pets(family members) are a wonderful addition to any home, and they bring such an immense amount of joy into our lives as a whole.
I know the feeling of a special friend I had my dog since I was 5 and I just out her to sleep, I'm 23 so it made her 19 years old and I cherished the last few years with her and I wish she would of passed away at home... Instead of taking her to some where she hates... Sorry about the sad post! Your cat just reminded me of me and my dog, cherish your cat :) and remember he will always be with you
When I was younger I always called polydactyl cats "mitten paws" because their paws always made me think they were wearing mittens.
I must say, Raskle is such a handsome fellow, and the story truly reminded me of the kittens I hand raised from 2 week old babies - Unfortunately all but two were diagnosed with feline leukemia so they passed at the young age of 6 months (the other one later tested positive and died around 8 months and the other was 2 years). ;n; This story was truly heart warming, and I wish him many more wonderful years with you. <3
