The original piece (lines and shading) was a sketch done by
Toradoshi (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11163249/ ). I cleaned up some of the lines and shading and made a few little tweaks, then added the colour and text
As mentioned with Shato's Con Badge (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14147036/ ), we attended CaliFur 2014 and since I'd gotten such a nice badge for Shato I decided I needed to make one for myself as well and thus re-purposed this sketch. I think it came out excellent myself *smiles*
The decision to attend the con was a bit of a last minute thing. We had thought about it, but in the end decided only to go if we could find someone else to tag along, and I hadn't been able to meet, greet and get to know anyone local coming up to event. Had a crazy thought as I realized we knew someone not quite-so-local (central CA), and after making suggestion it all kicked into high gear pretty quickly.
Originally I tried to print these and laminate them at work - bleh, what a mistake. Low quality laser printer + low quality flimsy bulk lamination = little more than a mess. The night before the con I went to a professional print and lamination shop instead - boy what a difference. Crisp high quality printed resolution, excellent colour matching and nice firm stock card. Add on to that some heavy duty lamination and some trimming with the professional tools they supplied and they came out looking beautiful!
I still had to take a scalpel to the laminate to work out an appropriate hole for snap latch, but it worked out okay in the end and we had ourselves a very nice result when all is said and done. These will probably be used in the future if/when we attend any other cons :)

No, though I have had that question before in regards to my name since it has a TH at the end (and I guess that's a Pern thing). Believe it or not, I actually didn't read any of the Pern books until some 6 or 7 years after exploring my dragon self, so I was rather late to the Pern party :)
