I can only imagine them using silly means to decide, like pressing their bellies together when full term to make them "fight". First one to pop loses.
Or trying to have their foal's fight each other in a crib, which just leads to them playing with each other and a very happy Shining cuddling both of em.

The greatest battle of the century! Though the out come of the belly one is just one battle of the war, and i wouldln't think the first to pop losses. ( all serious asides ) both of them smashing their firm taught rolling bellies against each. Pushing their hips in in hope of either block the other foals space to brith and the other compelling her out.

A few observations if you don't mind on their body types. I believe they are as accurate as the show-style warrants itself. Would you agree? And something that I have noticed is in all technicality that the bellies would be more appropriate not overlapping their flanks, but more so just a dome between and down and back up. Or is the overlapping more - appealing in the long run.

You've done a good Job
Anatomically I find it perfect.
The overlapping shouldn't be too much since you view both them almost from the sides.
You can make the overlapping more prominent the more you orientate the view towards the front of the mare.
You have to visualize in 3D...

Okay the belly is too extreme but you get the idea.

The ''heirs'' problem is only credible on the surface...
While both foals comes from Shining Armor, technically *now* the Prince of the Crystal Kingdom, since he *married* the Princess Cadence; The one from Chrysalis isn't really a possible heir, since Cadence is THE royal link of this kingdom, not Shining Armor.
So, only Cadence's foal would be ''eligible'' to the throne.
While both foals comes from Shining Armor, technically *now* the Prince of the Crystal Kingdom, since he *married* the Princess Cadence; The one from Chrysalis isn't really a possible heir, since Cadence is THE royal link of this kingdom, not Shining Armor.
So, only Cadence's foal would be ''eligible'' to the throne.
