Here is the finished product of the "File Knife WIP" I posed a little bit ago, really happy with how it came out, sharp as heck and looks awesome! am already working on a couple more both of which I will post then they are finished. As you can see I put the mosaic lanyard hole in which i really love, wanted to put in a couple more pins but my drill bits the 1/8th inch size are not working so well right now, perhaps in future I shall find something hard enough to push through. but for now Sarnêl is finished!
Sarnêl is Tolkien elvish for "stone tooth" which i think is appropriate with how hard this knife is! Love the shape she ended up with. that slight curve along the spine *shiver* gah love this knife. Next time I may do a Seax though, love that shape when done well.

Wouldn't really matter the problem with standard rail road spikes is that they are made of soft soft steel (this makes sense when you think about it, they are designed to bend and clamp down on the railroad ties), You can temper and fold till the cows come home, but a piece of soft steel is still soft, now if you were to mix in a couple pieces of band saw blade or something similar, layer it between the pieces of the soft steel. Then you have something there. Though i have no idea if that would actually work or not. But why go through all that trouble when you can just pull out an old nasty file you can get at a local pawn shop for a dollar or less and use that?
