Using the trails in the star pattern to calculate the axis of rotation in this image, and the distance of the axis from the implied horizon, and knowing how the earth rotates I can calculate that your location in this picture is on your porch. Science!

but I painted the stars in so randomly! the location is correct though, minus a few tweaks here and there a'la creative freedom.

well even if the stars are fictional you could measure the angle of the north star and use the trails to calculate the elapsed time, but who wants to do that? haha
