African pygmys are bred to be pets, which are legal in most states.

Yeah. Unfortunately this may be a good thing because I can imagine a ferret with Ninja throwing stars could cause some mayhem.
Truth is, I would like to see Ferrets legalized as pets, but I've been told the little critters are very "High Maintenance." The only good thing about the ban is the folks I know here in California who have "Carpet Sharks" take very, very good care of their pets. One thing I can say about visiting my friends who own ferrets, is that the critters can be loads of laughs, and the good thing is I can give the pets back to the owners at the end of my visit. (Really, Ferrets are about as smart as a two year old child, and just about as precocious. If one of my friends tells me that they've "Ferret Proofed" their house, sure enough the rascals will spend most the day trying to Un-ferret proof the house.)
