This "fire dragon" is the first of a pair which will eventually become a set of bookends. The other will be an "ice dragon" done in white and light blues with (probably) silver horns.

Nice work!!
I assume the Ice dragon is going to be either white with blue accents or blue with white accents (I think blue with white accents would look better) and reddish yellow eyes?
(Criticism time -- the scales look like those sour gum pellets you get from quarter vending machines..... Perhaps too much of a close-up on the image? Plus, the snout looks way too short to me -- but then, that's just personal preference on my part.....)

The scales are made from a swirlled mix of red and yellow to give it a little bit of a fire feel to it, but it doesn't really show that well in the photo. The ice dragon will be done the same with white as the domanint color with light blue swirlled in. The eyes will either be a slightly reddish orange or maybe black (right now the only yellow "gems" I have are acrylic instead of glass and they tend to melt when the sculpture is baked to cure the polymer clay).
The snout is a litle short for my tastes, as well, but I find I really have little control over things like this. The dragons really seem to dictate how they want to look. More than a few times what I had in mind and what I ended up with ain't even close! But for the most part I like the end result.

I've heard that from lots of artists..... And I know what they mean, as I've had a poem write itself through me..... Damn thing wouldn't let me sleep until I did, either.....
The poem goes as follows:
The Watchers
Over you and your sisters we watch.
Over you and your brothers we watch.
Over you and your fathers we watch.
Over you and your mothers we watch.
Your lives, your movements, your words
While you're living at home, while you're boarding.
Your fights, your successes, your failures
Ever watching, ever recording.
We share in your love, we feel your pain
Into our books your lives are penned.
We're there before your life starts
We're there when your life's at its end.
Over you and your sisters we watch.
Over you and your brothers we watch.
Over you and your fathers we watch.
Over you and your mothers we watch.
We watch.
You know, I think I'll post that here as poetry as well.....
