If it's too simple like drawing shapes and lines randomly, I feel like I'm being lazy. If it's too complex like making those shapes to resemble something like a person or a computer, then doubt overtakes me. Oh what a predicament.

I often have this same problem. Sometimes I just waste so much time worrying how to start that nothing gets done.
It seems it's better to just start small (like with a few quick doodles or the goal of writing one page of a story), before you know it, you're having fun and getting more done than you thought. When I do that, I think, "Why was I worrying? This isn't so hard!"
