I recently had a Newly arrived young gecko go through a shed, and her stark albinoism made it easy for her to shed without my awareness and she did not shed completely. this is the first time this has happened with one of my gecko's but i thought that this could also stand to be an educational instance for others as well. as i often preach the importance of shed care but ive never had a good example of what happens if you dont.
below is what can occur if a shed is improper. this can happen on accident or if there is no humid hide. when this happens, you want to soak the affected area in warm water and gently massage the shed off. sometimes if you catch it soon enough amputation is not needed by a vet. sometimes it will just later fall off on its own. if you see its black, or creeping up then a vet is a must. do not try to remove it yourself.
this can happen to tail tips and toes. so keeping an eye on your geckoes more tiny bits is important.
above you can see the tail is now shorter. she dropped the bad part and it healed.
