Here's the Indigos, in what I guess would be the grand finale of a well choreographed performance. This was designed as a print for the 08 Anthrocon, and I was really happy with how it came out, tried some new ideas on lighting techniques in Photoshop. Choosing their colors, as always, was fun - Liz & I went with a monochrome direction to emphasize the hair coloration.

Cool, thank you for the feedback! The shading was really fun to do - I tried something new, basically instead of painting shadows on, I painted the light sources onto a shadowed image, to try and get a more stage-lit look... It was fun trying something new.
It was great meeting you at the con as well - I'm sure we'll get to see each other at future cons here and there. 8 ) Just please be patient with my goldfish-memory for faces.

Hello! No worries about the late reply - it makes me feel better about my own astounding time lags.... I'm very bad about keeping up to date on my art accouns...
The lineart is indeed pencil! Just #2B on regular printer paper. All the cool stuff happens in photoshop. In there, I turn the line layer to 'multiply', so I can put the colors on a separate layer underneath. Plus later, I can paint over the lines with the brush mode set to 'lighten', making the lines other colors besides black. 'Tis fun!

No problem ^^
And how do you get those clean lines? you clean it by hand? sorry for asking so much but is that i feel better doing my lineart with pencils but i work in the same size of paper than you with the same pencil and my lines looks so ugly, and you drawing is so clear and smooth ^^U i cannot do it..or maybe you use a lightbox?

Here's how I do it - it's a combination of a couple of things. First, when I'm drawing, I start with a 'nonphoto blue lead pencil'. I get them from bluelinepro.com. The blue lead is very light, and barely shows up on the scanner, and I rough out my drawing with the blue. Then, when I have the rough done, I take a regular pencil and draw over top, drawing the lines I want to have show. I start from the top left corner, and go to the bottom right of the page, because that way my hand is resting on blank paper, not a part where I've already drawn. Also, I take an extra sheet of paper to rest my hand on as I draw, to reduce smearing on my drawing.
This does a pretty good job, then in photoshop I can take care of the straggling smears by using a 'levels' layer on the line drawing - mess with the levels settings, and you can make your pencil lines stand out while pushing out the lighter gray smudges.
And those are my super-secret penciling tricks. 8 )
