So I saw Gravity recently and Gaurdians of the Galaxy is out so I've been thinking about space quite a bit. I've always liked sci-fi crap. I think if Vern were in space, he would man a small research station alone on the outskirts of the galaxy. So I drew this and wrote a small skit to go with it.
Listened to Necrology by The Cinematic Orchestra while doing this. maybe when I can actually sit down and commit to a comic I'll make this into one, I'll probably scrap this
red is the ship's computer talking

"what a mess" -he straps into his seat and hits a red button on the wall-
Broadcasting distress signal
"Let's see." -starts flipping switches-
Closing solar array
Engaging lockdown procedures

Warning: orbital decay at 17% and increasing
Engaging safety protocol Delta
"I appreciate that, but nope" -hits cancellation-
Safety protocol overriden
-station begins to slowly tumble-

"How can a man die better, when facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers, and the temples of his gods"
Warning: solar event arrival in T minus 1 minute and 30 seconds, brace for impact

Warning: solar event arrival in T minus 30 seconds
"Hopefully this'll be a fun ride" -station begins to rattle as it's hit by the first burst of radiation from the solar storm. It begins tumbling faster and shaking violently. The items floating around inside start getting tossed around as the station tumbles faster. Vern starts getting disoriented from motion sickness as the star he orbits disappears and reappears through his window over and over. he passes out from the nausea...he wakes up a few minutes later feeling groggy-
"ugh...." -hits a blue button-
Running preliminary diagnostics
Orbital Systems: Online
Life Support: Online
Auxiliary Systems: Online
Terminating lockdown
-takes off helmet and picks up a radio device- "this is Vern Temple from Research Station Nyx, disregard the distress signal. It was only cautionary. over."
