Below, I have kept most of the information the same (as seen in the original link). However, this is only for the domesticated species.
The blue guy pictured above, is a feral and has exceeded its domesticated brethren in both brains and life expectancy.
Species: Salamander
Size: Height of about 4 feet at the shoulder when standing (full grown adult)
Domesticated information
Favorite Food: Algae
Life Span: 100 years
Description: Personality wise, it's a slow yet friendly creature that will befriend anything that feeds it. Due to its immense size, it has few natural enemies.
When out of water, its skin is always coated with a slippery slime. The mucus oozes out of tiny pores that cover it from head to toe to keep it wet and healthy. This goo was once thought to hold magical powers, which led to the domestication of this creature. It is still unclear whether salamanders hold any magical properties (scientists agree that there seems to be no evidence of anything super natural), however there are thousands of tales, reports and even documentaries telling of the mythical 6 legged salamander.
Feral Information
Name: Kuusi Jalkaa (Turmonen)
Gender: Male. However, he has absolutely no problem playing the part of a woman in stage plays if the act requires one.
Age: 241, or so he says. Many believe he's far older than he lets on, and that maybe this given age is a joke...
This salamander is a very advanced individual for his species.
At a young age, he was swept away from his home during a great flood. He found himself on the grounds of a young Finnish count's land, and took up residence among the bodies of water surrounding the Turmonen castle.
Many years later, when the count married and had children, one of his daughters fell into a lake. Luckily for her, the salamander heard the panicked thrashing at the surface and quickly saved her from a watery grave.
The little girl screamed for her parents, refusing to let go of the salamanders facial appendages. Unsure of what to do, the amphibian comforted her as he would one of his own: he cooed and sang softly to her.
The lord and lady arrived, seeing their daughter hugging the big mushy, purring beast. Lord Turmonen reluctantly decided to not behead it upon hearing the story of his childs rescue.
Days later, the daughter and her eldest brother placed a trail of food from the waters edge, to the indoors of their castle. The blissfully ignorant salamander ate up the free lunch, and waddled his way into their home. Over many days of this repeated action, the amphibian one day decided to stay permanently, becoming the families faithful companion.
Lord Turmonen named him Kuusi Jalkaa, meaning "six legs". Through the centuries, Kuusi learned how to read, the ways of human culture, and eventually how to talk. The Turmonen family treated the mythical beast as a family member and an equal. Thus, his life was now one of comfort and leisure.
As the years went by, Kuusi outlived each of the Turmonens who inherited the land through birth right. In every written will handed down through the generations, the salamander was included as part of the inheritance. Kuusi's knowledge of the families lineage was priceless; The land, their treasures, as was all else he had learned over time were of equal value.
Sadly, many centuries later, the final count and his entire family were slaughtered during the religious crusades. The last of the Turmonens was slain valiantly defending his wife and children, as long as their rights and beliefs in the old Pagan ways.
Kuusi survived simply because he had been taking a 3 day long nap at the bottom of the lake on the property. When he awoke and returned to the castle, the amphibian was completely destroyed. Kussi was greeted at the gates, not with open arms and the familiar voices of loved ones, but with their black, charred bodies hanged at the entrance arch. The ghostly image burned into his head for the rest of his life.
Kuusi Jalkaa quickly scoured the castle ruins, gathering what few trinkets remained of his years with the Turmonens. Clutching the memories close to his chest, Kussi took refuge deep in the heart of the forest; miles and miles away from any form of civilization. As time went by, the forest continued to grow and weave together, forming the impenetrable, dreaded Black Forest. The salamander, magics, along with all other strange creatures(great and small) drifted away from being reality. Becoming nothing more than myths, rarely seen by the human eye unless you knew where to look.
Kuusi is well cultured and very well mannered. He is extremely peaceful, kind, and a bit of a glutton for fine dining. Kuusi speaks in riddles at times like the wise philosophizers of old, and loves to sing in ancient tongues long forgotten.
He enjoys reading, hugs, cuddles, pets, having intellectual conversations as well as debates, music, dancing, acting out any role in a play (woman or man), and resting in a lake (or any body of water)on a hot day.
