Ree-Mai are a species of canine-like marmals with a few lizard-like features. They are native to the universe N-DR|05, Earth and the hidden continent of Illiad and were, at the beginnings of Earth and Illiad, one of the first two sapient species, alongside the Mikaru. They were almost completely created in the image of their god, Rencal Kei-Rhai, while the Mikaru were created out of said god's imagination.
In contrast to the socially and technologically very advanced Mikaru, Ree-Mai tend to live in tribes, located in southern Illiad or sometimes, thanks to the Mikaru's transdimensional traveling system, other universes. They even have a governmentless country assigned to them, called Orasara. They also are the only species in N-DR|05 to almost completely lack the potential to use Ena-based powers. Only their Shamans and their families can use them. Tribes tend to almost only consist out of Ree-Mai of only one elemental race, wich usually is seen by their eye- and tatoo-colors and their shaman's ena-powers. The elemental races are devided into the Istarasians (Light), Ousians (Penumbra), Akerians (Darkness), Rerrikans (Shadow), Uqakians (Water), Massans (Earth), Elrians (Fire) and Ishans (Air).
Despite the technological differences, Mikaru and Ree-Mai still are very close to each other, share a lot of each other's history and would trust each other with their lives. Their religion, Oura-Rencalism, teaches them to value nature and to keep the balance between civilisation and nature in their world. They usually do so with their tribal lifestyle. The Ika-Rencalistic Mikaru have a simmiliar mindset, but instead of tribal livestyles, they tend to build their towns and cities around nature or with the help of nature, to not disturb the balance.
There also are Ree-Mai living outside of tribes in other parts of Illiad under the Mikaru or in other universes while not beeing in a tribe. These are called "Outsiders" by tribal Ree-Mai. For a long time, they were shunned. It was "only" around 7000 BC that the act of becoming an Outsider was becomming more and more accepted. Outsiders are now welcome to visit their former tribes and families again.
Style of clothing and inner tribal politics vary from tribe to tribe instead of elemental race. Every tribe has different traditions. Some tribes, for example, may have their main shaman as their leader, others their strongest warrior or eldest etc.
Technology and Tools:
The Illiadian tribes of Ree-Mai usually only have a very limited ammount of technology and tend to use rather simple or "primitive" tools. For example, the most common weaponst are stone spears and wooden warhammers. As of right now, though, there seem to be more and more tribes to be willing to actually import some technology from the rest of Illiad, like the United Territories or the Island Republic of Aisepa. So, some tribes actively use mechanical spears powered by Ena-Crystals or Mechanic Warammers. Weapons usually only are used by Ree-Mai for self-defense or for hunting, but of course, there are exceptions.
Ree-Mai with tribes in other worlds and dimensions tend to actively use technology on a more frequent basis, because of their ancestor's or their own willingness to use Mikaruian technology for transdimensional travel.
Outsider Ree-Mai usually tend to use the technology that is aviable to them in their currently living environment (Like stoves and TVs in a modern city etc.).
Tatoos and Hair Dye:
Ree-Mai tend to dye their hair and tatoo themselves under their left eye and left body-half. They do so in their own element's color. This practice first was practiced around the year 1.500.000 Before Unification/B.U. (C.a. 1.503.000 B.C.) during the first big Illiadian elemental wars of the Mikaru. Because of the Ree-Maian's alliance, they needed to fight alongside the Mikaru and began dyeing their hair and tatooing themselves in order to show which side they were on. Eventually, this tradition kind of stuck.
The body-tatoos are, technically, not tatoos but are automatically created at birth when a bit of Ena flows through the Ree-Mai's body. This is a remnant of the original tatooing method wich used Ena in such an extensive ammount that it became imprinted into the genetics. This will then appear as differently-colored skin and fur. The facian tatoos and hair dyes are cosmetical changes for a Ree-Mai to have later in life and even can be optional.
Reproduction:
Ree-Mai reproduce like normal Mammals. They are able to interbreed with Mikaru, Body-Arrashes and Tirrdaka but appearantly can't do so with Humans or Dragons of any dimension. They also can reproduce with some anthropomorphic, otherworldly species. In interspecies relationships, should one decide to have kids, said kids will either be Ree-Mai or the partner's species.
Aaand that's pretty much it. if I forgot something, it will be added to the description in a later time.
