I somewhat feel for that guard... dealing with children in the past has taught me to never trust a child.... and most yinglets seem like children.

He's done enough punitive latrine duties due to losing yinglet thieves for one lifetime. He ain't losing this one.

And yeah, she's looking all fierce, bearing those little chompers! Fun fact: the majority of yinglets have that layout of four small teeth near the back of the mouth, but yinglets with different numbers of teeth have become more common in recent years. There are some in the comic up to this point!

Well that's demeaning. Certainly goes to show just how little their society regards yinglets (and the other races, I'm sure).

What pronouns do you think you're going to be going with for cass? I mean from where I stand, he's still a dude, but other people don't seem to be going wih that. :\

I completely failed to anticipate how complicated this part would become. :D

Right now I'm going with 'she' when talking about Kass as she is now, but 'he' when talking about Kass in the past, or as the personality in general. That last part might change a bit if Kass remains in this body for a while, though...

In my own story, I simply changed pronouns (at least the default narrative perspective) when the person themselves finally publically accepts it, perhaps along with any new name. However, it was a character-by-character basis at the beginning with their own confusion, but eventually most, if not all conformed to a consistent and stable identity, one by one (like Isher already). Of course, this is assuming further body changes don't happen or complicate everything.

The new name is usually the trigger of identity change in most gender bending stories, whether they like it or not. My own still fears and doesn't like her gender even after years of plot, but goes by "her" for simplicity.

Its actually pretty fun to think about, as its usually a hidden element that can be critical to gender stories and all the character's understanding and acceptance of identity, but its usually not talked about, or shrugged off in a few panels/paragraphs.

Man, that is exactly my line of thought about this; that it's mainly an issue of one's self-perception. In general, we reason that the person should use whichever pronoun that they feel describes how they interpret themselves, which gets complicated when one's outward appearance doesn't line up with their inner perception.

Kass' situation is a bit jumbled since he/she is still in the early "Is this even happening?" stage, but things will be getting a bit clearer soon enough.

I am currently writing a yinglet featured fanfic.
I have to go over my conversations three or four times to get it (I hope) right.

After thinking on this particular strip for a while, I've come up with two theories on what'll happen next.

1) Kass and the others are taken to House Ivenmoth, where they are pressed into service as reluctant agents investigating this transformation, in the "If you discover anything, you WILL let us know" variety. What Ivenmoth's interest is in this will remain obscure until later in the comic; it may be nefarious, or possibly not, but they're not going to explain anything to THESE guys. Not yet, and probably not ever. They'll have to discover what Ivenmoth has to do with this on their own.

OR

2) While en route to House Ivenmoth, yinglets see Kassie in custody. Normally they'd shrug and ignore it, or even mock the foolish yinglet who was incompetent enough to get caught, but Kassie's a female. They're not going to let humans do anything with a female! So they mob the guards and snatch Kassie away, more or less against her wishes, and the prologue ends with Kassie being brought into a yinglet lair (or is it nest?) and society a little earlier than she wanted.

Can't wait to see which it'll be! Or if it's something else that comes out of nowhere. Next, please? :)

Awww yeah, I love hearing thoughts and predictions about the story, if only because it can be hard to guess how a reader is perceiving what's going on (because I've got all the info on a bigass notepad here and know what's going to happen). Without spoiling anything, I can say that you've been really paying attention! It won't be too long before some big reveals, so remember your predictions!

And yeah, things got a bit crazy this week but I finished the next comic's linework last night, so I expect it'll be ready sometime today.

this should tell the guard something "Wonder if this Yinglet isn't really an Yinglet? What if the peeps I'm working for did this to this thing?" nope, he just has that "I don't give any more fucks now" look =w=

Yeah, an officer has no major reason to suspect that the dirty hobo he's been ordered to move out of the street was made that way by a vast conspiracy.

Moreover, in this metaphor, hobos are tiny with little legs that make them near-impossible to catch, and every single hobo who has promised to cooperate has fled the instant he turned his sights away, and he's just tired of getting reprimanded for losing suspects.

So basically, everybody's awful!

On a whim after reading this page I decided to check out your page and read your comic from page 1 onward... a decision I do not regret at all.

You're the 1st artist I decided to watch solely for this story rather than how... pretty the pictures were.

Oddly enough the guard has come prepared with a yinglet leash. How did he know? O.o

Interesting that yinglet leashes are standard equipment.

It would be very nice to see Kass give the guard who collared him hell now that he's an officer.
