It's really not that simple, then background is pretty fleshed out, even has necessary shading, and the sketch is pretty clean too haha

Hence why I said it like that, haha... It looks so cool, all the detailing on a background with basically no colour, and the whole body structure being drawn out like that... It's inspiring and it's actually teaching me a bit about how to draw it!

Not saying he shouldn't sell things for his price, because if people are willing to buy that, more power to him. But personally, I don't think I could justify paying over 400 dollars for furry art. Unless I was exceedingly rich and cash was not an issue whatsoever, there are so many other useful things I could be buying with that amount of money.

It doesn't always have to take more time to charge that amount of money for it. You're paying for multiple things when buying from an artist. How popular they are is the number one indicator, which of course generally means their art is amazing. If something like this only took him 6 hours to complete(which it likely takes more, I'm just giving a for-instance), it's still worth more than something that takes me 6 hours to complete, because his art and popularity far exceed mine.

Implying that prices are set on how popufur anyone is will naturally raise some hackles, I think was the issue.

whether that's actually how it works is irrelevant, it's frustrating to many when people pass off a highly priced commission as acceptably priced simply because the artist is well-known. I can certainly attest to this as a fellow artist. My skill is nowhere near Wolfy-Nail, but I support their price margin based on their SKILL, not popularity.

I like to think that it's priced so high because Wolfy-Nail will spend hours absolutely beating this picture into fucking submission until it's the perfect, submissive little piece of art Wolfy always wanted it to be~



But yeah, nobody really wants to hear that people are charging based on popularity and not talent, since the majority of people(that I know anyway) are willing to pay an artist a lot of money based on the QUALITY of their work, not on how many people know who they are.

I have to agree with you, often times people complain about how expensive someone's art is as a way to bully the price down to something they want to spend on it. We all choose what's worth what. Someone may think his art is worth $20 someone else could think his art is worth $1000. It's all about perspective.

I'm not sure anybody is complaining about the price (above this, anyway). Most people seem to just be saying they can't afford it, which seems like legit feedback.

Meh, you're probably right, but I'm sure a few will turn up somewhere. I just feel comments like "i wish i was rich so i could afford this!" are a bit much, especially considering a lot of the people who buy Wolfy's art (and other people's art) likely aren't rich at all. Hell, I could afford a piece from Wolfy if I saved up a bit for it, and I deliver pizza and draw art for a living. I'm by no means considered "rich" and I'm sure it's offensive to people who DO buy expensive art as a treat for themselves and get comments like that.... like they didn't work for their money and they just plucked it off a tree in their back yard. :1

When they say "rich" they mean they wish they had the money to justify spending it on art. I'd freakin love a piece of art from Wolfy-Nail, but I can't justify spending that much money on it when there are other things I can more logically and responsibly buy. A lot of people have debts and whatnot and it makes it difficult to shell out for things that don't necessarily help them in real life.

There's only offense given if someone said the art isn't WORTH the price, which no one has. You can say "That's too expensive for me" without implying that the art is priced to expensively. But some people enjoy trying to take offense from things that don't actually give offense.

While I could dip into savings and buy it out right i Look at my other bills and have to consider them. Savings is for emergencies... not art/porn sadly.

Savings is for both. I'm a collector of taxidermy and a lot of pelts and such don't come cheap. You have to realize, the people who buy this art likely don't have any other expensive hobbies. My only "expensive hobby" is the collection of taxidermy, and that's it. The people who buy expensive art, are likely collectors of it, so they put aside their spending money into a savings and then splurge it when they've saved enough. But there are legitimately people on this website who believe no, people just have $1,300 laying around that they dig out of their couch to spend on a YCH Auction for Wolfy or something. XD

To me savings is the "OMG DEFCON 64 AND A 1/2!" emergency funds. My old job I lived pay check to pay check... sometimes ending with less then a dollar between paychecks and constantly robbing from savings to keep myself afloat. I also would prefer to have 3 months of bills in savings before I even take from it. right now all i've got is about two months... specially with how unstable my job keeps looking. When your old company goes bankrupt and are bought out by the hell spawn of the worst of the worst for mortgage servicers you tend to consider your days numbered. They are stupidly desperate to keep people on right now, but no overtime and really pissed off investor's and customers. So yeah... if the money isn't set aside in the budget or I have the money still laying around from these "bonus checks" (also known as bribes to keep us form quitting) they give out then I'd have gotten it... would have loved to have gotten it.

Most of them aren't directly complaining about the price, just that they can't afford the price. It's slightly similar but that does not make them deserve the label "entitled" at all.

It IS massively steep considering you are not choosing the pose of your character, the gender of your character, the setting your character is in or ..you know..ANYTHING normally done in a commission. Maybe it is not the fact they feel entitled, maybe it is the fact that this is way way to damn retarded of a price to be asking for something that would be given control of even for a professional business priced Commission that is not a YCH.

Well, i saw this "premium" pricing coming a long time ago. If folks spend so easily on your previous art, You could probably try the same thing and jack up the prices for the same quality as his previous ones.
This is where most other famous artists, namely Jeremy Bernal bit them in the ass quickly.

Seems like Wolfy is gearing up to do something complicated and sci-fi. Power armor? Would be a missed opportunity if the buyer just wants a nude. Background reminds me of System Shock 2.

This would be brilliant if I could afford it, though 420 US? That's a little steep. Now if I were (A) a person in a country using the dollar as currency I would think that maybe it could be a suitable price considering the wondrous quality of Mr Wolfy Nail's artwork, or if I were (B) A person living in the EU I would likely buy this work because screw it I'm European and I don't really have to worry terribly about funds, but since I am © none of the above, but do live in a place further south, South Africa to be exact, I can NOT buy this. The reason? Where you guys mostly see 315 euro or 420 dollars, I see about 4500 Rands XD so, much to my dismay, I will not be able to purchase any of this artwork any time soon XD (for scale, it would take two months worth of SA Navy pay to be able to afford this. Not considering that one still must live on what remains.)
