Oh my goodness I cannot get over how FLAWLESSLY you do legs! <3 This is literally the EXACT shape I'm hoping to pull off with Finny's bodysuit, which makes it that much more jaw dropping! Would you ever consider doing a digitigrade legs/bodysuit tutorial? Or I'm sure I've asked you, but do you take bodysuit commissions? Also, when you make bodysuits, do you have to leave any extra space in certain areas for easier movement? And do you simply wrap the DTD with clear wrap ("ceran" wrap, no idea how to spell it aha) and then tape over it to make the pattern, etc? Or will that make it too tight and hard to move in? I know fur only has very slight one way stretch, so it's a bit worrisome. I know some suit makers leave extra hip room for stretching, but I have no idea how they do it. D: Sorry for all the questions, no one has been answering them. XD You've always been very sweet and helpful... So I figured I'd ask you! (:
Aww thank you!!!! I'm glad you like it :) I will likely in the future do some sort of tutorial yes :) I will be taking commissions in the future :) I wrap the DTD with ceran wrap first and then with duct tape and then it's skin tight, but because that is waaaaayyyy too tight I make all of my pieces (that I cut out) about 2 inches bigger and then just add a bit to the belly :) really the legs end up being loose enough as is, I just like to have a bit extra on the belly because then it's not as hot and I can move easier :) Hope that helps!!
Thank you so much sweetie, that helps a lot!! <3 How do you go about making the pieces 2in bigger while still making sure everything fits together perfectly? And do you add 2in to every single piece or just the belly? Also, do you add a strip to the belly for extra room? I really want it to be super form fitting, but it also has to be very easy to move in c: I'm so glad I asked you, I would've wasted so much fur trying to figure it out x'3 Thanks a bunch! <3
Well 2 inches doesn't make much of a difference because of sewing the pieces together creating seams, and the belly I cut in two and added to the middle so that the edges still lined up perfectly :) And As you can see in pictures and video, Joker is pretty form fitting, but still roomy :) Hope that helps!!
The video was so great! Joker is such a cutie! c: and what do you mean the seams? Does the 2in include seam allowance? And I'm still a bit confused about the belly. I'm imagining a weird fold on the stomach D: Do you add extra room on the back as well? Sorry for all the questions, your answers have been helping more than you probably know! ^.^
Haha no worries I hope I can help you out. The 2in includes seam allowance yes, and the belly... Joker's belly is that white bit, and so the duct tape pattern for the belly I just cut right down the middle and add a little bit in there and it all fits back together perfectly
Oh one more question! XD Sorry! For the lower portion of the legs, the tags on this post say they're stompy feet... So does that mean that the lower part is foam? Or a hybrid between stuffing and foam? The feet look like they're actually connected to the bodysuit; it looks super clean! How did you pull that off, if you don't mind spilling your secrets? ;) I wonder if adding little hooks to attach the lower and upper legs would work... I wish I had the money to experiment XD
