Just a portrait of a lesser known Marvel Comics hero. People constantly call him "Donald" when they see the print in my book at comic cons. I correct them by pointing out that Donald doesn't smoke.

Donald used to, actually. The one I remember a Donald Duck cartoon with his three nephews where they buy him some cigars for his birthday. They try to hide them, but when he catches the kids with them, he think they got them for themselves and forces them to smoke them all. Checking for it, it's called "Donald's Happy Birthday" and was released in 1949. There's apparently at least one other that deals more directly w/Donald smoking from 1938, but I don't recall ever seeing that one because it's (supposedly) banned.

Howard the Duck specialized in slaughtering sacred cows and making fun of society - the comic did a pretty good job straddling the line between "underground" and "mainstream".
I've heard tell that he may be a main character in the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie. If anyone can do Howard justice, it's this bunch of filmmakers.

Having read some of the original comics, I find the George Lucas movie utterly unwatchable. In about 45 seconds and only a few words, Seth Green (he of Robot Chicken fame) did a better job capturing the essence of the character then Lucas did in 2 hours.

The trouble is, attaching the "Michael Bay" name to a movie is the same as printing your own money. People keep lining up in droves to see his dreck. His latest Tramsformers abomination equaled, in one weekend, nearly the total of How to Train Your Dragon 2 for it's entire run.
I won't see Michael Bay movies. Bar none. I've better things to spend my extremely scarce money on.
Howard the Duck deserves better, and I'm holding out hope, from that stinger, that he's about to get better.
