EDIT:
Seriously. SERIOUSLY. I'm over the comments about the antlers. I know perfectly well that they are not correct and I used them anyways. I know what i did I am not a complete idiot. Please stop implying that I totally don't know what I did and clearly also implying I'm a total dunce. It is obviously incredibly rude. I'm not going to spend tons of unpaid time working on custom antlers while I have other things to work on. The head was done last year. The current owner ALSO knows they are incorrect. and loves them anyways. If you don't like the antlers on it that is understandable and I'm sorry! But leave it at that and don't act like I'm dumb.
NOTE BELOW that I mention that they are not the right antlers. I thought it wouldn't be such a big deal.
Sir dolph!
LOL
wow
ok. He does not have reindeer antlers I know I know v.v but they're still cute
touched up his paint job with the airbrush! (since I didn't have one at the time that he was first made!)
added a teeth set and redid the lips! fixed up his nose area :3
This is what he looked like last year! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12042794/
and if you remember! he's got a glowing nose! done by using color pro resin tinted red in the nose! and adding some red leds :3 You can see them on in the first two photos. off in the last!

DVC just started carrying these if you are still hunting for slightly more reindurish antlers http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14248889/ (yeah still not the right shape/species but a tad closer maybe?)
Thanxs so much I love deer antlers [I actually have a full deer skull with 4 point antlers tough id rather not take them from that to use on a fur head as once the skull is cleaned up I plan to paint it XD]
In my opinion I think the antlers look just as good backwards XD I honestly didn't think anything of them maybe because I turn deer antlers backwards and sideways on secondlife when moding my avis

Love the fursuit. But the fact that use used whitetail antlers and you put them on backwards makes me twitch horribly. (White tail antlers point forward, while caribou's main beam goes backwards)
To the average person, they will not notice but to the avid hunter, its weird looking....XD
In the future you could experiment in making your own caribou antlers. I've seem several makers create really nice sets from thick fabric.

She obviously had a budget to work within like most fursuit makers with premades. Casting or buying Caribou antlers that would look correct and not take away from the suit more that whitetail antlers would be hella expensive and time consuming. I think she did a fantastic job with the materials she chose.
Oh I totally agree. I suppose I could have worded my criticism better, and I apologized for that. I've certainly had situations where I would love to put more time and effort into a piece but it simply wasn't paid for, and I don't have the time to put more work into a piece for free. I do understand, was just commenting on the aesthetic of it. Didn't mean to get folks riled up. :/ I love her work overall.
Yes I know this. Xb with commissions I honestly did not have the time to experiment with making fancy deluxe antlers for a premade head. I worked with what I could get without spending a fortune. And yes I put them backwards so as to not be so dangerous. Were I commissioned and paid for the extra time it would take to create antlers from scratch I would maybe have done them!
I very much hope that I didn't give you the impression that your work is anything other than lovely with my comment above about the antlers. I've admired your deer in particular, and you do such a great job, I've honestly looked at the idea of trying to commission you for one.
And I certainly understand the point of view of the artist when it comes to what you've been paid for and why you went the way you did with the antlers.
I'd love to see this guy in person, and I look forward to seeing what you produce in the future :) It's so rare to see people who can do such a good job with deer. <3

Thank you. I honestly was not stoked that I wasn't able to create or acquire some correctly weighted, and sized caribou antlers for this guy. and while I had the materials all to make the head last year, and gloves etc, I am not familiar with creating wired up fabricated custom antlers and fear they would take too much time away to create on my own aside from other things I have to make! i searched hard for antlers and ones that I maybe could afford, luckily the person owning the head now absolutely loves the antlers the way they are! I do wish I could have used some more realistic ones to seal the aesthetic though!
Well I will admit it is a clever solution. I apologize for my poor wording on my comment, I could have found a way for more constructive criticism. I've been drawing a lot of deer lately, and as a big animal nerd, 'wrong' antlers on deer in art is a big pet peeve of mine, so I twitch/gut-responded. I know working with 3D medium like fursuit-building is far more complicated than splashing pixels and colors around on a screen, and I have great respect and admiration for what you do. My pathetic attempts at mask-making aren't even worth showing. D: So again, I apologize, and again, the head looks amazing.
It's ok thank you :) I know that feeling as well when I see creations with mismatched parts. At least I can say that I do know the way real caribou/reindeer antlers are supposed to look! and I wish I knew how to create better ones from scratch without taking too much tinker time on it Xb
This comment of yours is very unnecessary and quite rude.
You're assuming that she has the time or money to buy or cast a pair of accurate caribou antlers that wouldn't take away from the beautiful mask.
You're also assuming she doesn't know the difference between the two or that they're backwards.
It's a premade mask, I'm sure these things were done deliberately because fursuit makers are almost always on a tight budget or time constraint as long as the person buying it is happy it should really not be any concern of yours.
Next time why don't you note the maker and have some solutions in mind instead of just saying how much it disturbs you.

Its not rude at all. Did I not say...IN THE FUTURE that she could experiment more. You jumping in and ASSUMING that I ASSUME she took the easy way out and saying my comment is rude is incredibly rude. The head is beautifully made. ...Sidian and I are no way putting the suit maker down. Just stating that a caribou with whitetail antlers looks odd.
The person's fursona may have been created that way in the beginning. We are all allowed our opinions. Stating that something looks off is not rude at all. You really shouldn't attack people like that.

I myself am pretty disappointed but they are not the only suit maker to not use correct anatomy on a fursuit..
Some suit makers dont even realize that they did something rather.. wrong with the suit when it comes to anatomy and with people not wanting to jump and point it out in fear of being yelled at..
These guys just did it to this suit if you can see what I mean http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14146647/

I think he's lovely and actually find the backward antlers to be a very clever solution! When visiting my friend last week, she had a book covering all of the extinct species of cervids and some of them had the most zainy headgear you could imagine!! Certainly I do not feel these detract, and I am also a hunter. :)
Having these same sort of antlers on a mask facing forward was so scary walking around too! with the points I worried was going to hurt someone. Especially with a mask that should be dealing with children. using the antlers the least I could do was put them backwards! Thinking of also adding an aesthetic cover to each point as well. Xb
Omg, I need that book! XD Have you seen stagmoose antlers? Those were insane! :D Anyway, even being the deer-fanatic that I am, I wasn't bothered by the type or placement of these antlers at all, and it makes perfect sense to turn them around for safety reasons when dealing with small children. Even with the backward-pointing horns on my suit, I have to be SO careful I don't hurt anyone with them, becsuse you'd think you'd always have a good idea of where your horntips are at all times, but I've lost count of the number of times I've bashed them into things, regardless. :p
These are the smaller white tail ones from bluelake? Oh man, I was considering getting them for my character but was unsure of the shape due to their tiny tiny picture but now that I see them here I think they might be just right! Are they just plastic? I would have to do a paintjob to them for mine ;-; also I don't know why everyone got in such a bunch over it, I think he looks adorable this way =D especially... DAT FACE x3 so cute
Y'haven't a clue how much I love seeing a reindeer that looks like, well, A REINDEER 8D
And psh, who cares that the antlers aren't exactly right. I think a lot of people commenting on them haven't got a clue how much time and money would go into making caribou antlers from scratch. He looks adorable, anyway |3 The glowing nose is really clever :)
