In a small fishing village off the coast, a young boy is enamored with the sea, and dreams of the mighty dragons that swims his depths. Little does he know, how close his dreams are to his reality...
So... I'd hoped to give this in one story, not chunks, but my writing has stalled, so three parts I think... this one for now, because it's been a while since I fed you all anything. Another random tale conjured up on a whim, this one while walking along a certain beach, so, there you go ^^; I hope you can all enjoy, and for those who like the more... lethal stuff, there will be some later in the series, but this story isn't going to be overly explicit, it has a softer stance.
Unless the ability to read stories on this site has changed, it's a little inconvenient, so I offer a link to the same story on Eka's, my primary site http://aryion.com/g4/view/273924

I could tell a little by the way the dragon acted a little, but I try not to predict how/what characters will do in the future. I can always just pretend to myself sometimes. Usually when I'm at work, I'll sometimes pretend I'm either in the game of thrones or his majesty's dragons universe.
I have pondered a sequel... but I was never exactly sure what to do with it... that and my writing schedule has been slowing more and more of late. I didn't feel I'd left it very sad... or on that much of a cliffhanger... What aspects did you feel made it such? I'd like to know, because I try not to end my stories with such things
Oh, Raven knows Serac is there, all of the main characters do, it's their secret, not just his, but they deliberately don't speak of it out loud. But yes, I did ponder a sequel... even planned out the new threat, the main antagonists, but for some reason it never quite thrilled me... I may try at some point to make a sequel, but I have a fair few other projects I ought to be working on...
All out war would depend on the setting... despite the need for conflict, I like to focus my writing on the individuals and moments that would cease war... in the Serac world, since you mentioned it, I wouldn't go for all out war, not yet... the dragons are still rebuilding, and, in all honesty, war isn't their thing... and, for reference, when you say you're a DM what do you mean, in this context. I've heard the two letters mean different things
Ah, I thought so. I have limited DM experience, but I do have a little. In general, I do write of war between dragons and humans sometimes... normally, as something humans try, before quickly realizing it's a very bad idea... It's a tricky concept though to decide if any conflict between humans and dragons could actually ever be called war... To be honest, in only one or two of the stories I've ever contemplated, have dragons been of a mindset for "war", as in an extended conflict, specifically against a ruler or group... The dragons I perceive, tend to... not be that interested in such squabbling. A human army marching at them would be like an army of armed rats coming at a person. Though, don't take that to mean they'd laugh at it... if an army of rats came at me, specifically, I'd be pretty frightened ^^ nasty painful bites and scratches, dragons don't like them any more than people do. So... I guess, I tend to write my dragons more laid back. Not that I think "war" is an impossibility... but I think humans would need to have taken over the world, to back dragons into enough of a corner that they'd actually make pre-meditated strikes... But, I ramble on. If you have any specific reasons that you feel dragons in my contexts would see war as a viable reason, I sit open to hearing new logic. If your experience holds a route in it I have not experienced, I'd gladly ponder it
I was thinking along the lines of the king sent out special forces to wipe out all the dragons and has been successful until his special forces find Serac's home then there is guerrilla warfare (b/c 20 dragons vs. millions of humans is going to work that way) and maybe the village helps out (depends on if they are still alive or not)
Well, not to spoil too much, in the sequel... when I eventually get to it, the royalty is planned to be seeing that the tide is turning. The the last section, the group that targets dragons lost their prodigy, their main weapon, it was a stinging blow. Since then, dragons will have been rebuilding properly for the first time in a while. However, you are right, if it comes to actual fighting, guerrilla warfare is more likely a sound strategy from the point of view of the dragons, probably. Yet, mostly in the form of ambushed attacks I'd suspect, I don't see them being able to make much more than crude traps, and anything remotely sophisticated would likely, due to the size of their hands, be to a scale that made it too obvious. The fight in the first series, being more distraction than anything, hence the deliberate presence. I'll think on it... certainly an act of desperation in the attack that would be mounted against dragons, would be in the pipeline
