Steady speed, cheap, and extremely effective, the 30 ton Inner Sphere Light-Runner actually relies on banks of medium lasers tied to a targeting computer. A pair of Pulse Lasers on one arm give it excellent accuracy against faster targets that make it to its back side.
This 'Mech has been used in a game of MegaMek and it showed to be exceedingly effective in combat, especially in the urban due to the relatively short range of its weapons. This is a custom unit, by the way, NOT an official unit!

Proved that one, but it does have a couple weaknesses.
It isn't very particularly well armored for its weight class (30 tons), and it doesn't mount jump jets. The loadout was four medium lasers, two medium pulse lasers, all tied to a targeting computer.
In a city, yes, this shit hurts. In the open, it can't reach for shit. :P
No, I don't usually play tourney, we just stick to Level Two with a few Level Three rules to mix it up a bit. I.e., the 1/36 chance a 'Mech will really go boom, or the Floating TAC. =D

30 tons and no jump jets? ouch! Oo
But you know what? You could beef this little critter up by replacing the TC and two of the meds with two additional medium pulse lasers and use ER meds istead of med standards. That would give you the firepower of a Hunchback, you get a few hexes to defend yourself in the open field, and it would be completely L2. Not to mention that you would rock a city with that juggernaut, jump jets or not.

It's still a Level Two unit -- Inner Sphere has been allowed access to Targeting Computers since BMR: Revised.
Also, it has the heat sinks to alpha strike constantly. But even more importantly, I kept cost into consideration. The thing runs less than 3,000,000 C-Bills -- it uses only a Standard engine.

Yes, but you are not allowed to use targeting computers with pulse weapons anymore (the -3 bonus was too high and disrupted the game). That's why the TC is a waste of space and tonnage (imho), as you still need to calculate in the pulse weapons' tonnage to determine the weight of the TC, but the pulse weapons don't benefit from the improved accuracy.
erm ......
Remind me to claw somebody's face off if I see him again. >.<
I just checked out the new rules that came out in 2k8 - FORGET WHAT I SAID!
You can still use pulse weapons with a TC, but you cannot make AIMED SHOTS with it.
*brb, biting in the keyboard*
DAMN! They removed my favourite kind of mech (LAMs), saying that it would be too much of a munchkin and disrupt the entire game, but they keep something that simply cannot miss it's target. Where the hell's the logic in that?!
*REALLY p****d off right now*
