"I'm a monster!"
This is Chase's true form. He's known as a "qimeric" fox. This strange condition gives him the jumbled, multi-species appearance and acts as the source of his magic and shapeshifting abilities. Growing up he was often teased, shunned, beat up, or even hunted down when people discovered his true appearance or grew fearful upon learning about his potential magic power. That's why he's so shy about being seen in this form. Part of the reason he introduces himself as "Chase the Fox" is to hide his true nature. As laidback as Chase is, this is practically the only thing that will make him defensive and skittish.
I'll probably do a bestiary journal entry on "qimerism" sometime to describe the condition better. I need to rewrite what I have first. It's too complex and messy right now.
