For those of you wondering -
Heaven is located at:
- 1.1 miles above sea level.
- Underneath a quarter mile of rust-speckled limestone.
- And on top of 240 feet of frozen lake.
I know this
because I am in Heaven.
Magnesium flares
light the way through
icy tunnels;
Handheld stars
illuminating
turquoise nebulas.
I follow the curves
of frozen waterfalls:
Motion ironically guided
by perpetual stasis.
The ice feasts and grows
with the coming of every winter;
and at the dawn of every summer
the winds carve them sensually.
One moment I pass underneath
the legs of a crystalline mammoth -
the next I dance between teeth
in the jaws of a deathly cold bear.
Some mountains have hearts of gold
or great veins of jewels.
Mine has a heart of ice.
And when I touch its walls
-walls that have outlasted every empire on Earth-
I can feel its eternal heartbeat.
TLDR: I like ice-caves. Part 2 of the Austrian tetralogy.
This poem and your soul belong to me.
