Rick wanted a kappa, a water-based yōkai (demon/spirit) from Japanese folklore. They're said to be tricksters with a love for wrestling and cucumbers. A kappa can be weakened by tricking one into bowing, thus spilling the "life water" from their bowl-like crowns, or even pulling off one their easily-detachable arms.
Again as with the kitsune and hibagon commissions, the "lineless" look of this was inspired by the animation style of "Samurai Jack".
