So, the FBA draft combine was Sunday. My character, Travis Buckner (The koala) attended with his boss to basically see the draftees and do some networking. He was going to sit alone, but found that Daniel Quvianuq (Polar Bear) had attended in his 'secret identity' of HEROBEAR. Well, Travis decided to keep him company, and was amazed kids wanted Herobear's autograph, and not Dan's.
This gave him an idea for the Cancer Care children back in Austin. They needed heroes too, even if they didn't like sports.
He convinced Dan to come down to Austin from Sturgis for a day, and after treating him to a lunch, took Dan and himself over to the Austin Cancer Pediatric Care Ward, and donned their 'disguises'. Of course, Herobear was already established, but Travis didn't know any koala heroes, so he made one up.
CAPTAIN KOALA! Defender of those who need defending!
A terrible makeshift outfit and a dollar store mask, but the kids' eyes lit up with the two heroes coming to visit. It was a smash hit. Travis was a little bit awkward, as his improvisational skills were something to be desired. Dan, however, took to the limelight like he was born to play the role. Luckily, the Lone Star's GM Hector Louis (Rat) was there to snap a picture. Possibly for a poster, but at least for Travis' benefit.
Between the two, they entertained the kids for a half hour with 'Tales of heroship', but they always reminded these kids taht no matter how much of a hero the two of them were, that every day the kids were fighting to survive, made them MUCH more a hero in THEIR eyes.
Travis enjoyed the heck out of it, and Dan pseudo-recruited him into accompanying more Herobear appearances as his sidekick.
Just... Travis might take some acting lessons, first.
