Uh, actually, Photoshop can do vector now =p And you can do it fine in InDesign (though you're right, it works better for print/pre-press), as well as Illustrator.
I use all 3 programs, and have used all 3 for professional print/pre-press/publishing, as well as conversion in vector/raster. And don't get me started with CorelDraw...
