So, I was bored at my Nan's house. And I decided to dust off the old Master System, which has been living there untouched for many years. And I managed, with little effort, to get thouroughly addicted once more to both Populous and Lemmings.
Several weeks on, the other evening one of the tunes from the latter popped into the back of my mind and refused to leave. My solution? Fire up Reason.
All the synth sounds are my own patches - been fiddling with my own synth patches for the last few months and they're finally starting to sound a little less primitive, though still not all that diverse. I'm pretty happy with the lead synth, though. Its stupid happy fits the bill here. X3
In my many unfinished little experiments I also usually add individual processing units to each individual sound, but I did this fairly quickly and just applied one mastering job to the whole mix (many artists would probably want to slap me with the broad side of their effects rack for this.) I also really went to town with the compression, to see how it would sound, and liked it. It may not sound as good as it could, but the beat just sounded really flat and lifeless without it.
Oh, and tunewise, it may not be quite spot on. I had no reference for this and can't be bothered to get addicted to Lemmings again just to get some. Anyone who does happen to know this tune inside out can tut all they want.
