I'm excited to watch this new chapter unfold. My style changed in ways I did not foresee.
I recommend Sketchbook Pro as a good tablet/sketchpad transition, the tools feel more authentic and less artificial. Plus it's WAY less expensive than Photoshop.
Oh, and happy birthday!

Seconded for sketchbook pro, especially if you got a tablet that will allow you to use your fingers to navigate, because you can do zoom/rotate/pan functions with your hands.
There is a free to use forever version called the copic edition that has limited tools and functionality, if you want to check it out: http://copic.jp/en/sketchbook-ce.html

Oho! I didn't really have thoughts in my head earlier (for the first picture) BUT now I do.
This is pretty good! Keep at it. Definitely don't throw out the pencils though. I wish I bothered with them more, personally. I don't have a working scanner...kind of. It works, but doesn't like talking to 64-bit OSes. There's a lot of neat shortcuts you can do with digital though.
ALSO if you are, perhaps, looking for other programs to try working in, have a look at Krita! https://krita.org/
It's a little...wonky, in places. Worth a look though, and free! For realsies-free, not Internet-Free.

Ya ya, definitely gonna keep up with my traditional art :3 Hard to lug my computer and my tablet out to the park to do sketching ^^
And I'll take a look at Krita. Given photoshop and Sai a try, so I'll see about this'n, but it'll prolly be a bit before I figure out which one's doing what for me really

Photoshop is, ironically, terrible for tablet input. It has no smoothing, which is why your output looks so jaggedy. Once the pixels are on the page, they're set in stone, so the program can't look at where you put the stylus next to figure out how to smooth it properly. (This wouldn't be a problem if they had the infinite input resolution of paper, but they don't.)
Most digital artists on FA use a Japanese program called Paint Tool SAI which is super-responsive and actually stores stroke information in a minimalist vector format rather than painting pixels directly. Other popular programs include Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Flash, and Inkscape. Matelk's suggestion of Krita is probably worth considering, too, though I don't know much of anything about it. (But it's from the Linux KDE project, so it may not be super-fast on Windows...)

How good a tutorial this is I don't know but if you are trying out Krita this popped to my mind as I saved the bookmark in case I ever tried it myself http://tysontan.tumblr.com/post/910.....g-app-tutorial
